Maura in the news.

Click the image to read some old news stories about Maura Murray's experience running cross country in Hanson, Mass.

I thought it was interesting to read a quote from Maura following a cold and wet run in late October:

"I actually like running in weather conditions like this. I think I can run better than in other conditions."

Detailed Weather Reports from day of Maura's crash.

Recently, a meteorologist contacted me with some detailed weather maps and reports that show what it was like outside the day Maura crashed her car, in 2004. And now here they are for your perusal.

Says the weatherman:

It was quite cold on the morning of 9 Feb but it warmed up significantly though the day and a layer of non precipitating clouds combined with warm air moving in from the south kept it from getting super cold that night.

It was an unseasonably warm night.

I think it's just another bit of circumstantial evidence that shows it would have been quite hard to die from exposure to the elements. Especially for someone with military training, like Maura.

Dear Trolls,

I have decided to accept your crazy musings with a more open mind. While I don't agree with you, I respect your passion. We all want this case solved. I'm going at it my way. You're going at it your way. Great. I am working on gathering more evidence we can share and interpret in our different ways. In the end, I will present a book to you. A book that is a sequence of events and a tale of how some evidence was uncovered. You may be surprised in the end to find the book does not present much in the way of theory. It's a tragedy. About a girl who was as human as any one of us. And who got lost and hasn't been found. Here's hoping we get some answers this year. Peace.

Was Maura Driving the Car?

Here's a theory that has bugged me from the beginning: is it possible the woman who wrecked the car in New Hampshire was not Maura Murray?

All we have to place Maura at that scene is the description given by the school bus driver, Butch Atwood, who said it was a young woman with dark hair.

The last confirmable sighting of Maura Murray was at the ATM in Amherst several hours before this accident.

Is it possible Maura met harm in Amherst and someone else traveled into the North Country to dispose of the car only to get into an accident on the highway?

Probability says it was most likely Maura behind the wheel, but this case is so strange I'm willing to consider the possibility it was someone else.

What do you think? How might this scenario play out?
